Building Faith in Fellowship

There is nothing love cannot face; there is no limit to its faith, hope, and endurance.

The Apostle Paul

Our Story

St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota is located about 90 minutes west of the Twin Cities. With a rich history of supporting mission work and Christian education, the St. Paul's community today aims to revive and redefine its origins of service, learning, and sustainable impact. In the surrounding rural region, opportunity and potential are abundant, positioning St. Paul's as a core collaborator and partner in any local or global faith-based community projects.

Our approach to community engagement stems from God's words in the Bible. We believe that building relationships first, we can bring people together in a true sense of belonging based on personal authenticity rather than expectations and standards. Our members support mission work that is international as well as local in our own backyard through The Closet, The Blessing Box, and Caring & Sharing Hands. Every Sunday morning we gather for worship. Throughout the week, members of all ages come together for educational experiences that grow their faith and make our church stronger.

Together, we are mindfully planning the future of the church. How do we better support our local community members? What roots can help us sustain the essence of St. Paul's while introducing new, creative ways to develop our spiritual practices? We invite new voices, different perspectives, and people from all walks of life to get involved at St. Paul's Lutheran Church for healing through spiritual development.

Our Mission

The mission of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church is to

gather in Worship as one body of Christ,

grow in faith learning together, and

give in service as we share Jesus’ love

throughout our community and the world.

Right now, we aim to offer..

1. Meaningful Worship Experiences: Teaching facts and skills that are biblically-based but easy enough to understand and apply to daily living.

2. Sustained Ministry Programs: Understanding the context of our volunteer-based ministry programs and deciding how to ensure their healthy longevity.

3. Intergenerational Leadership & Learning: Building relationships between the generations to learn God’s word, understand our church heritage, and co-create a new future.

Faithfilled Momentum

In February 2026, we hosted a Cottage Chat project to gather input from our faith community regarding the future of St. Paul's. During the conversations, there was an overwhelming attitude of hope for a vibrant future at St. Paul’s, although we know it will take some effort! In response to the question, “What makes you feel at home at St. Paul’s”,  62 contributing voices were unified in 2 key factors: (1) The People and (2) The Sanctuary. We believe you will feel the same way when you come to visit. If you could only  hear our voices echoing, our devotion and unwavering commitment.

We are most proud of:

  • Our camaraderie and fellowship.

  • Our lay-ministry participation.

  • Our ministry programs locally, regionally, and globally.

  • Our journey to restorative faith and belonging.

  • Our quest for mindfulness and wellbeing.

  • Our vision and hope for the future.

  • Our endowments.

We are eagerly positioned for growth here at St Paul’s - meaning, we are poised to get creative and explore new ideas and opportunities as we journey down a path of renewal. Please join us for worship, ministry programs, and faith education to equip and encourage friends and family of the church as well as engage and embrace those who do not yet know our church family. We invite you to come alongside us and on a path to creative ministry with strong and steady leadership, a plan for focussed direction, and momentum to propel us into a vibrant future.
